Review the attibutive clause一、 定語(yǔ)從句的定義:由關(guān)系代詞或關(guān)系副詞引導(dǎo)用來(lái)修飾主句中的某一個(gè)名詞或代詞并起定語(yǔ)作用的從句, 叫定語(yǔ)從句。定語(yǔ)從句所修飾的詞叫先行詞, 從句跟在先行詞后面。 定語(yǔ)從句的構(gòu)成方法是:關(guān)系代詞或副詞+陳述句語(yǔ)序, 關(guān)系代詞有: who, whom, whose, which, that, as等; 關(guān)系副詞有when, where, why等。二、關(guān)系代詞和關(guān)系副詞的用法:(PPT 912)1. 關(guān)系代詞指物時(shí)只用wh

6、ich不用that的情況(1) 關(guān)系代詞在從句中作介詞賓語(yǔ)并且介詞提前至關(guān)系代詞前時(shí)只用which, 但當(dāng)介詞在從句句尾時(shí), 兩者皆可(2) 在非限定性定語(yǔ)從句中必須用which不能用that。2. 關(guān)系副詞where指地點(diǎn), 在從句中作地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)。3. 關(guān)系副詞when指時(shí)間, 在從句中作時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)。4. 關(guān)系副詞why指原因, 在從句中作原因狀語(yǔ)。三、關(guān)系代詞(who, whom, which, that, whose)的指代關(guān)系 (PPT 5)Step 3. 介詞+關(guān)系代詞”引導(dǎo)的定語(yǔ)從句“介詞+關(guān)系代詞”引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句時(shí),介詞的賓語(yǔ)只能用which(指物)和whom(指人),即“介詞+whi

7、ch/whom”。1). “介詞+which“在定語(yǔ)從句中作時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、原因狀語(yǔ),相當(dāng)于關(guān)系副詞when,where,why.She still remember the day on which(=when)she won the prize.她仍然記得她獲獎(jiǎng)的那一天。This is the factory in which (=where) his father worked for 5 years.這就是他父親在那里工作過(guò)年的工廠。2). “介詞(短語(yǔ))+which/whom”在定語(yǔ)從句中作目的、方式狀語(yǔ)。 There is a big window in my room through

8、 shich I can see the railway station. 我的房間有一個(gè)大窗戶,通過(guò)它我可以看見(jiàn)火車站。3). “名詞/不定式/數(shù)詞+ of which/whom”在定語(yǔ)從句中作主語(yǔ)。 I read some books, the cover of which were yellow with years.我讀過(guò)一些書,它們的封面因年代久遠(yuǎn)都變黃了。4). “介詞+which/whom”在含有被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)的定語(yǔ)從句中作狀語(yǔ),表示動(dòng)作的執(zhí)行者。 The rascal by whom the little boy was beaten was arrested this mornin

9、g. 今天上午打小男孩的那個(gè)流氓被抓住了。5). “介詞(短語(yǔ))+which/whom”在定語(yǔ)從句there be中作表示存在關(guān)系的地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)。Old Harry is an ordinary-looking man,on the nose of whom there is a pair of thick glasses.老哈里是一個(gè)長(zhǎng)相普通的人,鼻梁上架著一副厚厚的眼鏡。6). “介詞+whose+名詞”在定語(yǔ)從句中作狀語(yǔ)。 He is the very man in whose pocket I found my lost money. 他就是那個(gè)人,在他的口袋里找到了我丟的錢。7). “介

10、詞+which+不定式”相當(dāng)于一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)化的定語(yǔ)從句。 He found something about which to write(=he could write).他找到了一些可以寫得東西。注意:1. 在“介詞+關(guān)系代詞”引導(dǎo)的定語(yǔ)從句中,介詞的選擇要根據(jù)定語(yǔ)從句后面的動(dòng)詞和介詞的搭配關(guān)系來(lái)確定。 The man to whom you spoke just now is a relative of my aunts. 剛才和你說(shuō)話的那個(gè)人說(shuō)我姑姑的一個(gè)親戚。 This is the house in which he lived last year. 這就是他去年住的房子。2. 固定短語(yǔ)中的介詞一般不可以跟隨關(guān)系詞提前。This is the book that/which Im looking for.
