2、只是語氣更委婉，不能用于肯定句和答語中。如:could i come to see you tomorrow？我明天可以來看你嗎？yes，you can./no，im afraid not。是的,可以./不，恐怕不行。表示客觀可能性(客觀原因形成的能力）?！颈嫖觥縞an與be able tocan表示能力時，可與be able to換用；can只有一般現(xiàn)在時和一般過去時兩種時態(tài)，而be able to可用于多種時態(tài)。如：what else can you see in the sky？ what else are you able to see in the sky? 在天空中你還能看見別的什

3、么？they will be able to come back in about twenty minutes.他們大約能在20分鐘后回來。（2)may，might表示請求和允許。might比 may語氣更委婉,而不是過去式。否定回答時可用cant或mustnt，表示“不可以，禁止”。用“may i?”征詢對方許可時比較正式和客氣，而用“can i?”在口語中更常見。用于祈使句，表示祝愿.如：may you succeed！愿你成功！(3)must，have to表示必須、必要.在回答由must引出的問句時,如果是否定的，不能用mustnt(禁止，不準)，而用neednt或dont have

4、 to(不必)。如：must we hand in our exercise books today？ 我們今天必須交練習本嗎？yes，you must。(no,you dont have to/you neednt。)是的,你們必須今天交。（不,你們不一定要今天交。)must是說話人的主觀看法，而have to則強調(diào)客觀需要。must只有一般現(xiàn)在時,而have to 有更多的時態(tài)形式。如：i had to work when i was your age。我像你這么大時，就必須工作了。（4)dare，needdare作情態(tài)動詞用時,常用于疑問句、否定句和條件從句中，其過去式為dared.如：

5、he darent speak english before such a crowd，dare he? 他不敢在人群前說英語，是嗎？need 作情態(tài)動詞用時，常用于疑問句、否定句。在肯定句中一般用must，have to,should代替.如：need i finish the work today?我需要今天完成這個工作嗎？yes，you must./no，you neednt.是的，必須今天完成。/不，不一定要今天完成?！咀⒁狻縟are和 need也可作實義動詞用，此時有人稱、時態(tài)和數(shù)的變化。在肯定句中，dare后面常接帶to的不定式。在疑問句和否定句中，dare后面可接帶to或不帶to

6、的不定式。而need后面只能接帶to的不定式。如：he doesnt dare（to） answer。他不敢回答。he needs to finish his homework today。他今天要完成家庭作業(yè)。（5)shall，shouldshall 用于第一人稱,征求對方的意見.shall 用于第二、三人稱，表示說話人給對方的命令、警告、允諾或威脅。如：what shall we do this evening? 今天晚上我們做什么？you shall fail if you dont work hard.如果你不努力就會失敗。(警告）should意為“應該，通常表示勸告、建議等.如：i

7、should help her because she is in trouble。我應該幫她，因為她陷入麻煩了。you should go to class right away.你應該馬上去上課。should i open the window? 我應該打開門嗎？(6）will，would表示請求、建議等，would更委婉。如：will/would you pass me the ball,please? 你能把那個球遞給我嗎？表示意志、愿望和決心。如：i will never do that again.我再不會那樣做了。would表示過去反復發(fā)生的動作或某種傾向.如：during th

8、e vacation,he would visit me every other day.假期里,他每隔一天看我一次。2情態(tài)動詞表推測(1）can表示推測（驚訝、懷疑、不相信的態(tài)度），通常用于疑問句、否定句中。如:can this be true？這可能是真的嗎？this cant be done by him。這不可能是他做的.（2)may/might表示推測、可能性(不用于疑問句)。might不是過去式，它所表示的可能性比may小.如：your mother may/might not know the truth.你媽媽可能不知道真相。（3)must表示可能性極大的主觀推測，只用于肯定的

9、陳述句中.如：youre toms good friend，so you must know what he likes best.你是湯姆的好朋友，你一定知道他最喜歡什么。he must be home by now。他現(xiàn)在一定回家了.二、used to用法回顧1used to后接動詞原形，表示過去經(jīng)常性或持續(xù)性的動作或狀態(tài)，意為“過去常?！?。如：my mother used to go shopping on weekends。我母親過去常在周末購物。when i was young，it used to be very cold in winter.我小的時候，冬天經(jīng)常很冷.2used
