Analysis of the teaching materialsThe topic of this unit is about teenage life and the reading passage is entitled the freshman challenge, which mainly concerns some big challenges for a new student Adam in his senior high school. In

2、 this passage, the main character Adam talks about his experience, thoughts and feelings, and his solutions towards his four challenges in the first person, which is close to students life. The text adopts a narrative style and the content of the text is constructed according to total score. The fir

3、st paragraph is the topic paragraph, which explains Adams confusion in the first week of high school. The other three paragraphs respectively describe the challenges Adam encountered in the course selection, extra-curricular activities and study, as well as the mentality and strategies to deal with

4、the challenges, which aims to help the students understand the campus life and learning conditions of foreign students, explore and compare the campus life of Chinese and foreign students, and take a positive attitude to meet the challenges of their new life.II.
