ithadbythenbecametheeconomiccenterjustafterYangzhou.IntheWesternHanDynasty(206BC-8AD),brocadesproducedinChengduwereverypopularinChina.SoChengduwasalsocalledtheCityofBrocade.IntheFiveKingdomsPeriod(907-960),Mengchang,kingoftheHoushuKingdom,decreedtoplanthibiscusesontheprotectivewallofthecity,soChengduwasalsocalledtheCityofHibiscus.

AsoneofChina'sfamoushistoricalandculturalcities,Chengduenjoysrichtouristresources.1500yearsago,awell-knownpoetintheJinKingdom,ZuoSiextolledChengduasloftyandpretty.ThiscityhasalsogainedtheeulogiumbybothLiBai,thepoetimmortalandDuFu,thepoetsage.Withrichculturalheritageandbeautifulscenicspots,Chengduisapeacefulandprosperouscity.

ChengduGiantPandaBreedingResearchBase

Establishedin1987,itislocatedinnorthernsuburbofChengduaxesHill,10kmawayfromtheurbanarea.Thereisawideroadconnectedwiththecitypanda,giantpandahasbecomethelaunchrareandendangeredwildanimalssuchasexsituconservationoneofthemainbase.

ChunxiRoad

ChunxiRoadislocatedinChengducitycenter,isalonghistory,bustlingdowntownbusinessdistrict,peoplefromoutsidetoChengdutoifyoudonotwanderChunxiRoad,islikenotgotoBeijingWangfujing,asNanjingRoadinShanghaiislessthansorry.ChunxiRoadisnotonlyafashioncenterinChengdu,beautifullooktoplay,itisalsogatheredforthedelicioussnacks,Zhongdumplings,glutinousriceballsLai,BeefandBeefTendon,Koreandumplings,LongChaoShou,therearestreetsofspicybarbecueandChuanchuanXiang,priceindexandindexcontrastisabsolutelydeliciousinarealtreatyouthesametime,doesnotworryabouttherapidshrinkingwallet.ChunxiRoadhasalwaysbeenaplaceoftraders,isthemostrepresentativeofChengdu,themostbustlingcommercialpedestrianstreet,almostallthepopularelementstogether,eat,wear,use,play,nothingisthere.Morelivelyevening,Ambilight,populartranspiration,Chengducrushoftenhaunthere.

TempleofMarquis

SituatedinthesouthsuburbofChengdu,WuhouMemorialTemplecoversanareaof3.7hectares.ItisdedicatedtothememoryofbothLiuBei(161-223),EmperoroftheKingdomofShuintheThreeKingdomsperiod(220-280),andZhugeLiang(181-234),PrimeMinisteroftheKingdom.

JinLi

RightnexttotheWuhouShrineisJinliPromenade,arebuilttradingandfolkartstreetimitatingtheancient-stylebuildingsinWestSichuan."Jinli"isthenameofanoldstreetinHan-dynastyChengdu,meaning"makeperfectionstillmoreperfectandhidetheuniverseintheuniverse".TheancientJinliwasoneoftheoldestandthemostcommercializedstreetsinthehistoryofWestShuandhadbeenwell-knownthroughoutthecountryinQin,Han,andThreeKingdomsPeriods.

WenshuMonastery

Wenshuyuan(WenshuMonastery)standsinthenorthernpartofChengduCity.ItisthehomeoftheBuddhistAssociationofSichuanProvinceandChengdu.Perhapsthebestthingaboutthemonasteryisthebustlingcrowdofworshipperswhoflocktotheplace.Togetherwiththeexquisitereliefcarvingsthatdecoratemanyofthebuildingsinthecomplex,theyrenderthetemplewellworthavisit.

InitiallybuiltintheTangDynasty(618-907),WenshuyuanwasoncecalledXinxiangMonastery.In1681,duringthereignofEmperorKangxioftheQingDynasty(1644-1911),Cidu,anaccomplishedBuddhistmonk,cametothemonastery.Hebuiltasimplehutbetweentwotreesandforseveralyearslivedanasceticlifethere.

TheancienttownofLuodai

LuodaiAncientTown,locatedineasternChengdu,isthelargestHakkcommunityinsouthwestChina.LuodaiwasestablishedinyearsoftheThreeKingdomsandisaprovinciallevelancienttownwithprofoundcultureItwasnamedforthematterthatLiuShan(LastemperorofShuHan),losthisjadebeltintheoctagonalwellInthistown,mostoftheexistentarchitecturesareinthestyleofthelateQingdynasty.ItsHakkacultureispreservedwellanywhereyoumayfeelthestrongHakkaculture.ThereforestenjoysareputationofFirstHakkaTownintheWest.InLuodaitherearemanyancientarchitecturerecruitersincludingGuangdongGuildhall,JiangxiGuildhall,andHuguangGuildhalletc.

TheancienttownofAnren

AnrenAncientTowninDayiCountyhasalonghistory,establishedin620underthejurisdictionsofJiannanDaoqiongPrefecture.Itissadthatitwasnamedforthemeaningofhumane.MenarecomfortableinhumanenessrecordedinTaipingHuanyu.AnrenTownisastatelevelkeytown,famoushistoricandculturaltown,oneoftoptenenchantingtownsofChengduCity,andoneof14townsofChengdubeinggivenprioritytodevelopment.Inthisfawn,thereexistStateKeyCulturalRelicProtectionUnit,StateAAAALevelTourResortLiu’sManorandthebiggestfolkmuseuminChinaJianchuanMuseum.

JiuzhaiGou

JiuzhaigouScenicArealiesinNanpingCounty,northernSichuanProvinceinthesouthernpartoftheMinshanrange.Stretchingover72,000squarekilometersinthenorthernpartofSichuanProvince,thejaggedJiuzhaigouScenicAreareachesaheightofmorethan4,800meters,thuscomprisingaseriesofdiverseforestecosystems.ItislistedasaWorldHeritagesitebyUNESCOin1992.

MountEmei

MountainEmeiliessevenkilometerssouthwestofEmeishanCityandisoneofthefourmountainrangesinChinathatBuddhistsconsidersacred.ItwasincludedintheUNESCOworldheritagelistin1996.Themountainstretchesmorethan200kilometersfromsouthtonorth.Itsmainpeak,WanfoTop,is3,099metersabovesealevel.SinceancienttimesEmeiMountainhasbeendescribedas"BeautyUnderHeaven".TempleswerebuiltasearlyastheEasternHanDynasty(25——220)andBuddhismwasintroducedtothemountainduringtheJinDynasty.IntheMingandQingdynastiesthereweremorethan150temples.

AlegendclaimsthatthemountainwaswhereSamantabhadragavelecturesonBuddhismandmosttempleshouseastatueofSamantabhadra.ThemainscenicspotsonthemountainincludetheBaoguoTemple,WannianTemple,Fohutemple,QingyinPavilion,HeilongjiangTunnel,HongchunPlatform,XianfengTemple(JiulaoCave),XixiangPondandGoldenSummit.Theseplacesareatdifferentaltitudesandhavedifferentclimates.Temperaturesatthetopofmountainare15degreeslowerthanatthefoot.EmeiMountainisawell-knownnaturalmuseumwithmorethan3,000specimensofplantsand2,000typesofanimalsincludinggroupsofmonkeysthatappearonthemountainroadsandfascinatethetourists.

TheLeshanBuddha

TheBuddhaislocatedtotheeastofLeshanCity,SichuanProvince,attheconfluenceofthreerivers,namely,MinRiver,QingyiRiver,andDaduRiver.ItiscarvedintothecliffsofMt.Lingyun.AlocalsayingdescribestheBuddhalikethis:"TheMountainunveilsaBuddha,whiletheBuddhafadesintothemountain.”

TheBaoGuangTemple

BaoguoTemplesitsatthefootofthemountainattheentranceandexitofthemountainarea.ThetemplewasbuiltduringthereignofMingEmperorWanli(1573——1620).

MountQingcheng

65kmwestofChengdu,MountQingcheng(Qingchengshan)isoneoftheancientcradlesofDaoism.Surroundedbycountlesspeaksanddenselycoveredbyancienttreeswhosebranchesreachingthesky,themountainwasnamed"Mt.Qingcheng"(GreenTowninChinese).Themountainincludestwoparts-theanteriorMt.QingchengandtheposteriorMt.Qingcheng.Theanteriormountainisfamousforitsbeautifulsceneryandnumerousculturalandhistoricsites;whiletheposteriormountainisnotedforitsparadisiacalscenery,primitiveandbrilliant,gorgeousandmysterious.

Dujiangyan

InChina,ChengduisalwayspraisedastheTianFuZhiGuo,whichmeans'Nature'sStorehouse'.Over2,200yearsago,thecitywasthreatenedbythefrequentfloodscausedbyfloodingoftheMinjiangRiver(atributaryoftheYangtzeRiver).LiBing,alocalofficialofSichuanProvinceatthattime,togetherwithhisson,decidedtoconstructanirrigationsystemontheMinjiangRivertopreventflooding.Afteralengthystudyandalotofhardworkbythelocalpeople,thegreatDujiangyanIrrigationProjectwascompleted.Sincethen,theChengduPlainhasbeenfreeoffloodingandthepeoplehavebeenlivingpeacefullyandaffluently.Now,theprojectishonoredasthe'TreasureofSichuan',whichstillplaysacrucialroleindrainingofffloodwater,irrigatingfarmsandprovidingwaterresourcesformorethan50citiesintheprovince.

Dujiangyanistheoldestandonlysurvivingno-damirrigationsystemintheworld;andawonderinthedevelopmentofChinesescience.Theprojectconsistsofthreeimportantparts,namelyYuzui,FeishayanandBaopingkouscientificallydesignedtoautomaticallycontrolthewaterflowoftheriversfromthemountainstotheplainsthroughouttheyear.

Sanxingdui

ItisbelievedthatSanxingduiwascapitaloftheancient"Shuculture".Thisparticulardiscovery,wouldrewriteChinesehistorybyunearthingaculturecontemporarywiththefirstcivilizationsofChinabutthathadleftnocluesinhistoricalrecords,thatseeminglydisappearedwithoutatraceandwhichleftartifactsneverbeforediscoveredelsewhereinChina.

BroadandNarrowAlley

BeinginthelistofChengduHistoricalandCulturalProtectionProject,BroadandNarrowAlleyiscomposedofbroadalley,narrowalleyandacrossalleys,amongwhich,therearealotoftraditionalcourtyards,orSiheyuan.

SomeveryoldalleysinChengduaretheplaceswheresomeimportantpeoplehadlived.Afteritsreconstruction,theBroadandNarrowAlleyhasbeenreopenedtopubicandisnow,oneofthehottesttouristdestinationsinChengdu.
