1、A Teaching Plan Speech for the Reading part of Unit 1Good morning, teachers. My name is Song Anni. Im very pleased to have a chance to stand here to tell about how to teach. Today my topic is the reading part of Unit 1,“school life in the UK” . It is from the Advance with English, the students Book
2、1.And i divided my teaching plan into 4 parts.Part one: the analysis of the teaching material.1.Bcakground of the article&how and what are the students learning in this article?This article is from a school magzine written by an exchange student. After studying in the UK for one year, she gives us a
3、 brief but clear description about what school life in the UK is like from her own experience. The Reading Strategy of this unit teaches students two basic reading skills, skimming and scanning. Students are expected to master the two skills and to apply them to their future study.2.Teaching Content
4、s: School Life in the UK (The title of the text)3.Teaching Aims: Knowledge aims:a. Help the Ss get an idea of school life in the UK and to identify the differences between school life in the UK and in China. b. To expand vocabulary of talking about school life. Ability aims:a. Teach Ss to master two
5、 of the basic reading skills, skimming and scanning.b. Enable the Ss to compare different information given to them, choose useful information needed and make correct decisions. Emotional aim: a. Promote Ss love for their school and school lives. 4.Teaching Important Points: Help the students to und
6、erstand the passage better. Learn and master some important words and phrases in this period.5.Teaching Difficult Point: How to help the students improve their reading ability and understand the passage better. How to master the important language points in this passage. Part two: my teaching theori
7、es,methods and aids.1.Teaching theories: 1. Make the Ss be the real masters in class while the teacher acts as director.2. Learning the language by listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3. Stimulating the students learning passion of the English language,passion is the best teacher.2.Teaching Me

Ask students to present the information about the Britain high school they had known.3 .Ask them to discuss the differences between school life in China and in the
10、 UK; and make them to think of the reasons.Step3 Reading comprehension:(9parts)1. Ask students to go through the article as quickly as possible and to try to finish the questions in PartA (P.s Inform them to only focus on and identify the information needed.)2 .Ask students to reread the whole text.
11、 Then let them answers some questions on the multimedia and check the answers as a class. These questions will check students ability to read and locate specific information.(Q1:What time do British schools usually begin? What time do they usually end?Q2: On average, how many students are there in a
12、 class in the UK?Q3:Why did Wei Hua find her homework difficult at the beginning of her study in the UK?Q4: What do British students usually eat after their main meal?Q5: Which British city did Wei Hua go to?)3 .Have the students listen to the tape recorder, and ask them to pay attention to the tone
13、 and pronunciation.4 .Have students do some exercise in order to arouse their interest and enhance their further comprehension.A. What specific aspects are mentioned in the text? Tell them that skimming is to look at the titles and headlines, the first and last sentences of paragraphs and the first and last paragraphs as well as pictures and charts to get a general idea of
16、what a text is about. And scanning is to focus on keywords and phrases, dates, numbers, etc. to find certain information in a text quickly.7.
