To keep our bodies healthy, we have to do exercise every day. There are many kinds of exercises. Bending (彎腰 ) and stretching (伸展 ) helps us move easily. Before we play ball games or swim, it is better for us to do bending and stretching exercises first. This kind of exercise is something called warm-up exercise. Running is also a good exercise. If we cannot run fast, we can jog. Jogging means running slowly. Again, before we run or jog, we must do warm-up exercise. Also, we should not run or jog in busy streets. The air there is often dirty. Some people like weight lifting because it can make their bodies strong. Also, we need to do warm-up exercise before weight lifting. 51. _ is called warm-up exercise. A. A while later they saw mice running out, one after another. Then, everyone thought that all the mice had run away. But just as they began to clean up, they saw two mice squeezing(擠 ) out at the mouth of the hole. They did their best to get out. However, it was strange that after they came out of the hole, they did not run away immediately. Instead, one ran after the other near the mouth of the hole. It seemed that one was trying to bite the tail (尾巴 ) of the other. Everyone was puzzled (困惑 ), so they came nearer to take a look. They realized that one of the mice was blind(瞎的 ) and could not see anything, and the other was trying to allow the blind mouse to bite on his tail so that he could pull the blind one with him to run away. After seeing what happened, everyone said nothing and lost in thought. During the meal time, the group of people sat down in a circle and started to chat about what happened to the two mice. One serious American official said, I think the relationship(關(guān)系 ) between those two mice was that of king(國王 ) and guard. The others thought for a while and said, That was why! A smart French said, I think the relationship between those two mice was that of husband and wife. Again the others thought for a while, and all felt it made sense. A Japanese said, I think the relationship between those two mice was that of mother and son. Once again the others thought for a while, and felt this was more reasonable. So they expressed agreement another time. At that moment, one Chinese asked, Why did those two mice have to have a certain(某種 ) relationship? Suddenly, the group looked back at the Chinese. The American official, the French and the Japanese who had spoken earlier all lowered their heads in shame, and did not answer. In fact, the true love is not built on friendship or blood(血統(tǒng) ) relationship. Instead, it is based on no relationship. 55. The two mice didnt run away immediately because _. Help Produces Love C. Friends In Need D. Love Is All D Take a look at the label (標(biāo)簽 ) on almost any bottle of milk and you may see the word PASTEURIZED. What does that mean? Lets find out by meeting Louis Pasteur. Louis Pasteur was born in 1822 in a little town in France. When Pasteur was a young boy, he was very interested in medicine, so he spent many hours every day with the chemist(藥劑師 ) who lived in his small town. Young Louis enjoyed watching the chemist as he worked and listening to him help people who came to him each day. Pasteur decided that one day he wanted to help people, too. As he grew up, he loved to paint. He loved to look at the world around him. When he went to college in Paris, he showed interest in looking through a microscope(顯微鏡 ). A microscope makes things look a lot bigger; it lets you see things you cant see just with your eyes. Looking through a microscope, Pasteur found a living world in a drop of water. He saw and drew pictures of the small living things-he called them microbes or germs (細(xì)菌 ) that crowded in a drop of water. Because of Pasteurs patient ways, he was able to make many observations (觀察 ) about germs. One day a winemaker came into the lab, hoping that someone could help him with his problem. Sometimes my wine tastes delicious, but sometimes it turns sour, he said to Pasteur. Can you help me find out why? Pasteur put some drops of the wine under the microscope. He noticed that the sour wine had some unusual germs. If he killed these germs, maybe he could keep the wine from turning sour. He experimented with different ways to kill the germs. In the end he found heating the wine seemed to work best. The winemaker tried it, and every bottle of wine tasted good. Pasteurs idea worked for other people, too. When farmers heated milk, it didnt sour so quickly. When breweries (啤酒師 ) heated beer (啤酒 ), it tasted better. People called the process (過程 ) pasteurization heating a liquid(液體 ) to kill bad germs. Arent you glad that the milk you drink has been pasteurized? 58. What does the passage mainly tell us? A. What life Louis Pasteur lived. B. How to make milk clean. C. How pasteurization was invented. The programme works because everyones eyes are different. So in the future you wont have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. Youll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are. The eye-recognition(眼睛識別 ) programme is already being tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain and Italy. Soon, this technology will take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are. However scientists are working on other systems(系統(tǒng) ). Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hand or even your smell! We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or the mark(痕跡 ) made by your finger(手指 ). Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes dont change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers. And even twins have different eyes. So the programme can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. Some programmes may only be right 51% of the time. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people who had tried it said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition. In the future your computer will be looking you in the eye. So smile! 65.
