馬丁·路德·金(MartinLutherKing,Jr.,1929年1月15日-1968年4月4日),出生于美國(guó)佐治亞州的亞特蘭大市。馬丁·路德·金是著名的美國(guó)民權(quán)運(yùn)動(dòng)領(lǐng)袖,他于1963年8月28日在林肯紀(jì)念堂前發(fā)表了《我有一個(gè)夢(mèng)想》(IHaveaDream)的演講,迫使美國(guó)國(guó)會(huì)在1964年通過(guò)《民權(quán)法案》,宣布種族隔離和種族歧視政策為非法政策。1968年4月4日,馬丁·路德·金前往孟菲斯市領(lǐng)導(dǎo)工人罷工,遭槍擊,遇害時(shí)年僅39歲。作為黑人領(lǐng)袖,他生前贏得美國(guó)各階層人民的廣泛尊重和愛戴,為世界所關(guān)注,于1964年獲得“諾貝爾和平獎(jiǎng)”。為紀(jì)念這位偉人,1983年1月,總統(tǒng)納德·里根簽署法令,規(guī)定從1986年起,每年1月的第三個(gè)星期一為美國(guó)的“馬丁·路德·金日”(MartinLutherKing,Jr.Day),并且將其定為法定假日。WorldTradeCentertakendownbyterrorists(September11,2001)世界貿(mào)易中心(WorldTradeCenter,美國(guó)紐約)簡(jiǎn)稱“世貿(mào)中心”,位于美國(guó)紐約曼哈頓島西南端,曾是紐約市最高、樓層最多的摩天大樓,為紐約市民乃至美國(guó)國(guó)民所自豪的地標(biāo)建筑。大樓于1966年開建,主體于1973年建成使用。
